Well, that happened fast. It's March already?? And honestly, the weather has been kind of springy. It feels too good to be true, since we didn't have legit snow this year. But maybe we won't? I say that very tentatively, because I don't want to jinx it, but maybe this weather isn't the classic PNW "Fake Spring". Hopefully it's here to stay!! I officially decided this week to start dressing like it's real, regardless of the intermittent showers. If its above 50 and not actively dumping, I'll be in a cute lil dress.
All that to segue into our theme, SPRING FASHION! Some trends are new, and some are clearly here to stay from last year. One here-to-stay look is matching sets!! I feel like I talk about them a lot, for good reason. We honestly weren't sure they'd be around for a third (maybe more) spring in a row, but they DEF are!! We doubled down this year, so we have a TON. It's a really smart little investment though, because it's technically like having three outfits. The set together, the top with jeans, the bottom with your fave toppy top. Girl Math.
Okay, New Trend. Or, semi-new. Super wide leg pants and shorts. I feel like these were "in" last year, but weren't the type of thing that EVERYBODY was wearing. Now, they are, for sure. I haven't seen tight pants or booty shorts anywhere on Insta, and honestly, I'm kinda glad. We got some new wide leg Hudsons, which I'm sure you guys might even be kind of sick of seeing, since I post a story in them every single day. But when you have a favorite pair of jeans, it's a daily thing. Similarly, we also have been loving oversized long shorts. The London is the style from Hudson that we love, if you're down for the knee length look that's so trendy right now. If that's a little too bold, we have a compromise. The Devon is the Hudson denim short that's a perfect classic boyfriend-style, and isn't wildly short. An entry level to the trend, just to get you hooked. Since this trend has become mainstream, any time I put on tight shorts my body is like, "ew, these are so uncomfortable, why did I buy these?" and when I wear my loose comfy cute trendy shorts, I can breathe and sit and walk without adjusting. Practical AND cute.
Also, stripes are SO in. Up and down stripes, stripes going the "wrong" way (which I don't believe in, by the way. If they make you feel wider going horizontally, it's just the wrong piece for you. Find better stripes) pinstripes, thick stripes, ALL stripes. It's giving nautical coastal slay. It's a fun pattern that still feels classy, and if you're down for pattern mixing, it basically counts as a neutral. It works great mixed with a leopard print, and we haven't been into the polka dot trend, but if you are, stripes and polka dots are going to be your bread and butter.
Lastly, (this is a long Spill, thanks for sticking with me) and hear me out, ballet flats. We aren't really carrying shoes often anymore (50% off all footwear in store, btw) so this isn't self promotion, just trend news. We were pretty against them at first. It reminded me of church shoes, or something. Then, we saw influencers styling them with track pants, or edgy band tees, and we were like "OH, now I get it." They're waaaay cute if you style them with a kind of contradictory outfit. Like wearing a cute little floral dress with a leather jacket, but today's version of that. I love them now, with a sporty or edgy outfit, plus it's always a win when a look involves comfortable footwear!!
Enjoy this possibly fake, hopefully real transition into spring, and enjoy the sunny weather looks! We can't wait to see which trends you guys are into this year. When the sun comes out, we thrive, so come check out our new springy outfits!! We're back to our normal hours and we're ready for you!!
